My Mini Needlepoint Rugs

The following pictures show just a small sampling of my treasures (unfortunately, I only have just so much space...sigh). Some items are purchased, but most have been created by me.

To make this page load faster, I have decreased the size of the images. If you wish to see a larger version with more details, simply click on the picture of your choice.

This is a greek tulip rug. I chose to make it becase I like flowers, and there are a lot on here! It is 3 1/2 inches wide by 4 1/2 inches long. I did change the border a bit, mainly because the original didn't do much for me. It is from a Susan McBaine pattern.
This is a rug that I designed myself. It is for a little girl's room, It is 2 1/2 inches wide by 3 inches long, done on 18 count if I remember correctly. I used both half cross stitch and full (x) cross stitch as well. Unfortunately I had a small accident with scissors when I cut around. Maybe one day I will attach it to the mouth of a dog, and we can say "bad puppy!" ;)
This christmas panel rug came from a pattern in the old nutshell news magazine, I think it was a november issue. This is on 18 count aida, 3 1/2 inches wide by 4 and almost 3/4 inch long. I liked this little rug because it has such great little panels. The border, once again, was changed to protect the innocent...
This mongolian rug originally had a neutral color scheme, but I modified it to make it a bit more "me". Scary that me is shades of blue, pink and green, hmmm? Oh well;) LOL! The rug itself is stitched on 18 ct aida, and is 6 inches by 6 inches (one of my bigger rugs to date). About a week's worth of work.
This pattern was called "modern navajo". It was another pattern from my Susan McBaine book. I again changed the color scheme ( I do that a lot!) and it is one of my prettier rugs. The rug was done one 28 count aida. It is 3 1/2 inches wide by almost 5 inches long.
Another Susan McBaine rug, called Early American Hooked Rug. I think it might have been one of my first rugs. Did I change the colors? Of course. Originally it was supposed to have more browns/greens in it. I have also seen this rug done in crimsons and it was stunning. It is 7 inches long, and 4 inches wide, done on 18 ct aida.
Didn't change the colors on this one because I designed it! It is my cow pillow, stitched on 28 ct aida and is about 1 inch by 1 1/4 inches. Jut nice to sit on a dollhouse couch
This is a transylvanian rug. It is called that because most of the surviving specimens were found in protestant churches in Transylvania. The rug itself is 17th century, double-ended (aka top half is a mirror of the bottom half) prayer rug and comes from Turkey. Usually in this type of rug you find a stylized mosque lamp on either side of the center medallion, though in this style vases of flowers replace the lamp. One other feature of the rug is its wide border with colorful cartouches. This rug would happily brighten up a very dark plain den filled with books. Any color on the walls and you'd probably go deaf;). The rug is 3 3/4 inches wide x 4 1/2 long.
